History

Since 1988, Joyhann has been writing a quiet history of care. Our story began in Wuhan, a city defined by the confluence of the Yangtze and Han Rivers, with a simple conviction: the healthcare environment itself is a critical component of healing. From our earliest innovations in hospital-grade surfaces and clinical workflows, we saw the profound impact that intentional design could have on safety, efficiency, and human dignity.

The 1990s saw us expand from foundational infection control systems into the realm of therapeutic furnishings, recognizing that every chair, bed, and workstation in a hospital carries a silent duty—to support, to ease, and to protect. The turn of the millennium marked our growth into a global partner, as our integrated approach to clinical environments gained recognition. Becoming a member of Nortek Healthcare Group in the 2010s amplified our reach, connecting our specialized expertise to a worldwide network of innovation.

Today, our history is not just a timeline, but a living legacy. It is found in the operating rooms and ICUs where our systems guard against infection, in the patient rooms where our furniture offers solace and support, and in the laboratories where our designs ensure absolute integrity. From a single point of convergence in Wuhan, our philosophy of integrated care has rippled outward, touching clinical spaces across the globe. Our past is built on listening to the unspoken needs of healthcare; our future is dedicated to answering them with ever-greater intelligence and grace.

Why the Name “Joyhann”?

The name “Joyhann” is born from a harmonious blend of emotion and geography. “Joy” captures the essence of wellbeing, clarity, and a serene sense of fulfillment, while “Hann” directly echoes the Han River—the largest tributary of the Yangtze River. Together, they reflect a place where purity meets poetry.

Our visual identity is intentionally crafted around clean, fluid tones. The soft cyan shades are chosen for their clarity and freshness, symbolizing both the purity of water and a commitment to cleanliness. The two flowing curves in the logo are not merely design elements—the greater wave represents the Yangtze River, and the smaller, graceful curve signifies the Han River. They meet precisely where Joyhann originates, a confluence that grounds us in a specific landscape while inspiring a broader sense of flow and connection.

More than a location, this intersection embodies a philosophy: where two forces converge, something new and meaningful emerges. Joyhann carries this dialogue between nature and nurture, between place and feeling, embedding each product and experience with a refined, understated sense of soul.

Today, Joyhann remains rooted in this story of convergence—a name that holds both a sense of origin and an open, flowing promise.

Our Values & Purpose

Our purpose is to build the infrastructure of healing. We believe the clinical environment is a silent partner in care, and we are dedicated to making that partnership as safe, efficient, and humane as possible. This purpose is upheld by three unwavering values:

1. Responsible Precision. We approach every detail—from the antimicrobial property of a surface to the ergonomic tilt of a chair arm—with profound accountability. In healthcare, there is no room for “almost.” Our precision is a form of respect for the fragility of life and the gravity of the work performed within our systems.

2. Holistic Care.We see beyond the single device or piece of furniture. We design for the continuum—the seamless journey of a clinician through their shift, of a patient through their recovery, of an instrument through its cycle. Our solutions integrate infection control, functional furniture, and workflow design to support the entire ecosystem of care, recognizing that each element affects the other.

3. Enduring Partnership. Our commitment extends far beyond delivery. We are long-term partners in our clients’ missions. We listen, adapt, and innovate alongside you, ensuring that our shared environments evolve to meet tomorrow’s challenges. Your trust is the cornerstone of our progress.

These values converge into a single, guiding purpose: to empower those who heal.By removing environmental burdens, we enable clinicians to focus their expertise where it matters most—on the patient. We provide not just products, but the confidence that the very space around them is an ally in the practice of care.
